Mimi and David Brown recently reflected that the moments of life which have brought them the most joy are found when they are freely giving of themselves. And that joy has been reflected through their affiliation with TBE since 1973. “TBE has provided us with spiritual, educational and cultural fulfillment,” said Mimi. David added, “We cherish the friendships made over the years and our membership helps us preserve our Judaism and our community. Having raised our three children - Wayne, Tracey and Lori - at TBE, we are pleased that they have continued our tradition of always being a member of a synagogue. “We joined the Temple as we believe it is important to show solidarity and be part of an organized Jewish community,” says Mimi. Over the years, the Browns have been influenced by our clergy. “Dramatic changes have taken place with the influence of each of our Rabbis. Rabbis Blumberg, Weiss, Lazar, Wilfond, Sisenwine and Clevenger have all shared their unique philosophy with the Temple, which has strengthened our spiritual connection and social home away from home. Our trip, a few years ago, with members of the congregation to Israel, led by Rabbi Wilfond, left us with a greater appreciation of the importance of our TBE community and our connection with the State of Israel.” The Brown’s believe that the various ages, lifestyles, and levels of observance of our congregation are important elements in shaping and enriching our community. Over the past 35 years, Mimi and David have become familiar faces participating on many committees. Since retiring, Mimi has had the opportunity to “explore her Jewish roots through study and tikkun olam initiatives.” Mimi and David enjoy participating in adult education and regularly attend Shabbat services, finding them a time to “reflect” and prepare for the days and weeks that lie ahead. “The music and spirituality that Jodi (Cantor Sufrin) has shared with us, since her first day at TBE, has greatly enriched our lives.” David looks forward to our new Beit Elohim, as “we need to remain vibrant. Now is the time to build and maintain a legacy of excellence to ensure that our needs and desires, and that for all of our children and grandchildren, will have the same commitment to Judaism and its ethical values by participating to assure that we have a place to support each other.” “There is nothing like the warmth, Hamish feeling, that one experiences when walking through our (TBE) doors, feelings we hope will continue forever.” We are on a journey...
